A 3x3x3 cube consists of 27 single cubelets. Polycubes can be made of from 1 to 5 cubelets and are the shapes that are commonly associated with spatial IQ tests. The challenge offered is to assemble 6 or 7 different polycubes into a 3x3x3 cube. Some combinations may be straightforward and engaging for individuals of all ages, while there exist some intricate configurations that will truly evaluate your spatial abilities. The complimentary smartphone application provides access to 40 puzzles varying in difficulty levels.
The pieces required for a specific combination are presented sequentially allowing for assembly into the complete cube. During piece placement, control arrow touch pads are provided to facilitate movement and flipping of the piece into its designated location within the solution. Additionally, a help touch pad is available to display a recommended solution location for the current piece.
A timing feature records your proficiency in achieving the full solution, with the best time recorded for each puzzle attempted. Activating the help function disables the timing mechanism, enabling reassessment for an accurate timed completion. The superior global times can be input into the smartphone game scoring system using a chosen nickname.
Tutorial:
The optimal method to acquaint oneself with the game is to promptly engage with a puzzle. This can be initiated by accessing the home screen where the word 'START' pulsates vividly. Upon pressing the start button, you will be directed to the SELECT LEVEL screen. The five available options solely vary by the number and sizes of polycubes utilized to construct the 3x3x3 cube. Any option can be selected, like opting for Easy Set I.
Upon entering Easy Set I, you will encounter eight puzzles depicted by the letters corresponding to each puzzle's specific pieces. The unlocked puzzles at the top (highlighted in blue) can be engaged with by selecting the respective blue bar. Conversely, puzzles marked in magenta showcase a lock symbol and are presently inaccessible; they will become available as prior puzzles are solved.
Upon choosing a puzzle, the pieces will be displayed near the top of the screen in a recommended order of assembly. The first piece will already be situated in its solution location, whereas the second piece will be positioned BUT NOT NECESSARILY IN A SOLUTION LOCATION. Your task is to relocate this piece into its designated solution location using the set of five arrows located at the bottom of the screen. Two arrows facilitate lateral shifts; notable is that each arrow dictates movement solely in one direction with cyclic reversal enabling multidirectional movement with just one arrow.
